Pricing Stained Glass Projects!
Yes, I can custom design a beautiful stained glass project for you. I have designed everything from stained glass entryways for homes to customized stained glass menorah and gifts. I have made kitchen cabinet inserts and room dividers. I also have made fused glasse vases, bowls and wall art. If you have an idea or vision I can bring to reality in glass. The process begins with a consultation to hear your ideas. If you have a set budget this is where you want to let me know so that I can accommodate you in the first drawing. I try collect as much information I can for the project . Sometimes that means I will have to come to your home to get measurements. This is included in the fee I charge for designing your project. I am investing my time for your project. |

The design fee is proportional to the project and paid after our first consultation. This fee is non refundable and I do not begin to draw without it. I can not price anything until I have a drawing and know what glass and materials will be used in the project. Once I feel I have interpreted you ideas to paper, I will call you in for the presentation and give you a price to construct your project. You are welcome to make minor changes, however if you completely change the design I will have to get another design fee. Once you have agreed on the price and design, a fabrication deposit is required. The amount of the deposit is 50% of the total project. This deposit also puts your project on the books. There maybe a few projects ahead of you so you want to be placed on this list as soon as possible. |
| How long it will take depends on where on the list you are and how big your projects is. I will give you an estimated time and I will do my best to meet that time. Be sure to plan well in advance if you have a special date of completion, remember this is a hand-made work of art. My prices are determined by cost of materials and cost per square foot price. With over 20 years of experience in the Art Glass Industry, I have calculated a formula that you can use to help you estimate the cost of your stained glass project. First you have to determined if you want a copper foil or lead construction for your project as copper foil will be about 20% more expensive than lead came. | ![]() |
| Then determine how many pieces per square foot your design has. The more pieces per foot, the higher the square foot prices is. Here is an example of the price per square foot based on the number of pieces in that foot. | |
| 1-35 pc/sft = $75/sft Simple geometric design- large pieces 36-45 pc/sft = $100/sft Simple shapes 46-55 pc/sft = $125/sft medium designs 56-65 pc/sft = $150/sft med/complex designs 66-75pc/sft = $175/sft complex designs 75-100pc/sft=$200/sft Very complex designs such as floral and fauna |
Materials also an effect on you costs. Bevels, jewels, sandblasting, painted details, dichroic glass, brass came and wood frames add to the square foot price. Use the following formula to help you determine your ball park estimate. (click here for printer friendly copy) The Formula: Measure the height and width in inches. Multiply the height by the width = __________. Divide that total by 144 = your square footage of your project. Multiply the square footage by price per square foot. See the example above to determined the complexity of your design. This will give you a base price. Add 20% for copper foil construction. You will also have to add any special treatments used in the project. |
